How do I troubleshoot Android notifications?

If you’re experiencing issues with your notifications, follow these steps:

💡 NOTE: After following these steps, we recommend restarting your device to make sure the changes are applied.

Android version 6.0.1+:

  1. Go to your device's Settings

  2. Select "Battery"

  3. Tap the Overflow menu icon

  4. Tap "Battery Optimization"

  5. Tap the downward caret

  6. Tap "All apps"

  7. Tap the app you're using

  8. Tap "Don’t optimize"

Android version 7+:

  1. Go to your device's Settings

  2. Select "Apps"

  3. Find and tap the app you're using

  4. Tap "Battery"

  5. Tap "Battery Optimization"

  6. Select the Apps not optimized option and change it to All apps

  7. Find the app you're using in the list and set it to "Don’t optimize"

Android version 9:

  1. Go to your device's Settings

  2. Tap "Battery"

  3. Tap "Adaptive Battery"

  4. Tap "Restricted apps", and make sure the app you're using isn't on the list

Android version 12:

  1. Go to your device's Settings

  2. Tap "Apps"

  3. Find and tap the app you're using

  4. Tap "Battery"

  5. Tap "Battery Optimization"

  6. Select the Apps not optimized option and change it to All apps

  7. Find the app you're using in the list and set it to "Unrestricted"

Huawei:

  • Check your Power plan:

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap "Advanced Settings"

    3. Tap "Battery manager"

    4. Tap "Power plan" and make sure it's set to "Performance"

  • Check your Battery settings:

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap "Apps"

    3. Find the app you're using

    4. Tap "Battery"

    5. Make sure "Power-intensive prompt" and "Keep running after screen off" are turned on

  • Check your Optimizations:

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap "Apps"

    3. Tap "Advanced" at the bottom

    4. Tap "Ignore optimizations"

    5. Tap "Allowed"

    6. Tap "All apps"

    7. Find the app you're using on the list

    8. Set it to "Allow"

HTC:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Tap "Power"

  3. Tap "Battery optimization"

  4. Tap "Not optimized"

  5. Tap "All apps" to see the complete list of apps

  6. Find the app you're using and tap it

  7. Tap "Don't optimize"

  8. Tap "Done"

Meizu:

  • Check your Performance settings:

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap "Advanced Settings"

    3. Tap "Battery manager"

    4. Tap "Power plan" and make sure it's set to "Performance"

  • Check your Protected apps:

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap "Advanced settings"

    3. Tap "Battery manager"

    4. Tap "Protected apps"

    5. Find the app you're using and make sure it's set to "Protected"

  • Check your Battery settings:

    • Go to Settings

    • Tap "Apps"

    • Find the app you're using and tap it

    • Tap "Battery"

    • Make sure "Power-intensive prompt" and "Keep running after screen off" are turned on

Nokia:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Tap "Apps"

  3. Tap "See all apps"

  4. Open the menu in the upper right corner

  5. Tap "Show system"

  6. Find "Battery protection" in the list, select it and Force close it. It will remain stopped until the next restart and background apps should work normally using the standard Android battery optimizations.

OnePlus:

  • Check your Special access settings:

    1. Go to "Settings"

    2. Tap "Apps"

    3. Tap the gear icon

    4. Tap "Special access"

    5. Tap "Battery optimization" and make sure it's turned off

  • Check your Battery optimization settings for the app:

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap "Battery"

    3. Tap "Battery optimization"

    4. Use the menu at the top to switch to the "All apps" list

    5. Tap the app you're using

    6. Make sure "Don't optimize" is turned on

  • Check your general Battery optimization settings:

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap "Battery

    3. Tap "Battery optimization"

    4. Tap the three dots

    5. Tap "Enhanced optimization" or "Advanced optimization"

Samsung:

Galaxy S8 and later:

  • Whitelist the app in App Power Monitor:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Tap "Device maintenance"

  3. Tap "Battery"

  4. You’ll see a list of your most frequently used apps at the bottom

  5. Scroll all the way down to see the "Unmonitored" apps. These are apps that you specifically want to exclude (whitelist).

  6. From the "Unmonitored" apps menu, tap the 3-dot menu to add or remove apps from the list

Other Samsung phones:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Go to "Apps"

  3. Find the app you're using

  4. Tap "Battery"

  5. Select "Unrestricted"

Sony:

  1. Go to Settings

  • Tap "Battery"

  • Tap the three dots in the top right corner

  • Tap "Battery optimization"

  • Tap "Apps"

  • Find the app you're using and make sure battery optimization is turned off

Xiaomi:

  • Check your Power Plan settings:

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap "Advanced Settings"

    3. Tap "Battery manager"

    4. Make sure the Power plan is set to Performance

    5. Go back to "Battery manager"

    6. Tap "Protected apps"

    7. Make sure the app is set to "Protected"

  • Check your Battery settings:

    3. Tap the app you're using

    4. Tap "Battery"

    5. Make sure "Power-intensive prompt" and "Keep running after screen off" are turned on

  • Check your Battery & Performance settings:

    • Go to settings

    • Go to "Additional settings"

    • Tap "Battery & Performance"

    • Tap "Manage apps’ battery usage"

    • Make sure "Power Saving Modes" are turned off

    • Go to "Saving Power in The Background"

    • Tap "Choose apps"

    • Select the app you're using

    • Tap "Background settings"

    • Make sure all restrictions are off

  • Check your App Battery saving settings:

    • Open the Security app

    • Tap "Battery"

    • Tap "App Battery Saver"

    • Go to the app you're using

    • Make sure all restrictions are off

  • Check your Autostart settings:

    1. Open the Security app

    2. Tap "Permissions"

    3. Tap "Auto-start"

    4. Enable Autostart for the app you're using
